Beacon Lofts

Some Of Chicago’s Best Loft Living

Beacon Lofts at 203 S Sangamon offers some of the best loft living in Chicago. This is true for two important reasons; its superb West Loop location and its truly authentic loft features.

Dramatic loft living space is totally unique – as is the West Loop’s Beacon Lofts!

When it was converted into 48 duplex lofts in 1998, this turn of the century newspaper plant was located in a wasteland of empty lots and crumbling warehouses. With the West Loop in the final phase of redevelopment, the neighborhood has been completely transformed.

Nowadays the West Loop is one of Chicago’s hottest neighborhoods. Beacon Lofts was ahead of the curve but it’s time has come. It offers the rare combination of excellent location and authentic loft living. The ideal combination many Chicago loft buyers are seeking. Here’s what to look for in a Chicago loft condo.

A West Loop Location That’s Hard To Beat

Within the West Loop, Beacon Lofts is considered to have one of the very best locations available. Beacon Lofts is situated in the eastern part of the neighborhood at 203 S. Sangamon. It’s on the corner of Sangamon and Adams. From here it’s an easy walk into the Loop. Plus the best offerings of the West Loop neighborhood are just steps away.

Here are a four more reasons to like the location.

First, Beacon Lofts sits across the street from Mary Bartelme Park. The park has features everyone likes. For example, a kids playground, an enclosed dog park, the fountain plaza, a large open lawn area. We love the parade of dogs that come out to the dog park every evening. The park offers a great opportunity for socializing with neighbors. Plus a “viewing hill” for lounging around on a sunny day. Then of course there are all the fun summertime events like Movies in The Park. There are a wide range of movies shown from kid-friendly films to romantic classics. It makes for a wonderful Summer evening out in the neighborhood. And it’s just across the street. All around, you can’t beat living near this park.

Beacon Lofts

Beacon Lofts sits directly across from popular Mary Bartelmy Park … the ideal West Loop location!

Second, it also sits within the popular Skinner School District. The school just is a short walk away. Plus there are multiple other private school options in the area.

Third, its only steps to daily shopping. Destinations like Target and Mariano’s which makes life easy.

Fourth, there’s an abundance of cafes, pubs and restaurants in the area. Including two of our Best Chicago Properties favorites; M2 and Morgan Street Cafes which are a block or two away. And as for eating out, choices abound. For example, there’s the ever-popular Greektown restaurants along Halsted. And the casual pubs and cozy restaurants along Madison Street. Then of course the über-popular Chicago dining scene along Randolph Street.

Questions about buying or selling a loft? Just ask!

Unlike some of the much larger loft buildings like nearby No. Ten Lofts, Beacon Lofts with only 48 units, is much more intimate. Among these 48, there are variety of unit types and sizes to fit the needs of almost any buyer.

Many of the lofts duplex up and offer dramatic mezzanine master bedroom suites. Other features include skylights and massive 17 ft. tall windows. These lofts feel bright and cheerful even on dark Chicago winter afternoons.

Due to the brick and concrete construction, the lofts are generally quieter than lofts with timber flooring. The west and north-facing duplex units offer some really unique floor plans and lots of personality.

All the units offer outdoor space; a patio, balcony or roof terrace. Some lofts over look the park that sits just to the north.

Some have heated and deeded garage parking and some have gated outdoor parking. Of course, I’d recommend getting a loft with a heated garage spaces if possible.

I asked my business partner and Best Chicago Properties Managing Broker Chuck Gullett to comment on why he and his clients like Beacon Lofts and here’s what he said:

“My clients have sought out units at Beacon lofts for many reasons. First off, 203 S Sangamon is located at the SW corner of Mary Bartleme park. That’s right in the heart of the West Loop. Living at Beacon lofts puts you within quick walking distance of all the West Loop restaurants, shopping  and transportation. The location is really perfect.

When you get home, you are walking into a unique loft building full of character and history. The high ceilings and interesting layouts provide a definite “wow factor”. If you are a loft lover, you will want to see this building. Some units feature exposed brickwork, iron trusses, concrete, lofted rooms and skylights. Every loft is different. Some come with garage parking and some with outdoor parking. These are true Chicago industrial lofts. You know it the second you walk in. I am always excited to see this property. And I keep an ear out for new lofts there coming on the market.”

Sales in the building over the last 12 months range in price from  $235,000 to $448,000. If you’d like more information about 203 S Sangamon just contact us.
