West Loop

1

West Loop has evolved into a trendy neighborhood with variety in restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, and of course Oprah's studio! Its proximity to the loop makes it an attractive place to live for people who work downtown. Many compare the West Loop to New York's trendy SoHo neighborhood because of its mix of culture and entertainment that's hip and appealing to residents and visitors.

The boundaries of West Loop are the Chicago River on the east, Ashland Avenue on the west, Grand Avenue on the north, and the Eisenhower Expressway (I-90) on the south.

Once a manufacturing hub, it has turned into an art trendy neighborhood with warehouses that are still commercially occupied and those that aren't used commercially have been converted into loft condominiums, restaurants, night clubs, art galleries, and some retail shops.

Many young professionals and their families are attracted to the area because there are private and public schools in the community for their children to attend and they can walk to work. The West Loop is also home to Greektown, a cultural part of the city with Greek Restaurants and shops that cater to Greeks and non-Greeks alike.

Easy access to transportation routes also makes the West Loop particularly attractive with El Blue line, Green line, and Pink line stations, as well as many CTA bus routes, and access to 90/94 and 290 expressways.

The annual Randolph Street Market Festival, a celebration of art, fashion, decor furnishings, and jewelry in an indoor/outdoor market setting is a great way the West Loop celebrates its uniqueness and offers a taste of its character to visitors.
