Rent versus buy? A tough question for some and an easy one for others. For the older generation who grew up in the owning a home is the American dream era, there is no question that owning is the way to go. Millennials do not want to be tied down or to have the responsibility and tend to rent. The truth is somewhere in the middle, but for most people buying makes more sense. Here are the five reasons to buy Chicago real estate instead of renting…

West Loop real estate is stronger than ever and a great value going forward. The area is riding high and the neighborhood is far from the “skid row” it once was a quarter century ago and light years ahead of the sometimes struggling neighborhood it was just five short years ago. From our office at 847 W. Monroe Street in the heart of the West Loop, we’ve witnessed the ebbs and flows of our neighborhood economy including of course the real estate market. We’ve seen the West Loop morph from an area to avoid into one of downtown Chicago’s best live / work neighborhoods with what we see as a vibrant and sustainable real estate market. Here are three reasons for the growing popularity of the West Loop and it’s real estate, and why our neighborhood will be stronger than ever going forward.

This is the second article in our blog series examining the Chicago neighborhoods where our real estate brokers live and work. Today we talk with Streeterville residents Emily & Lynn and Doug & Alicia. So guys let’s start off with the basics; What’s your favorite thing about living in Streeterville? Doug & Alicia: Our favorite thing about Streeterville is being right on the lake so we can go for walks or bike rides without having to ride on city streets. We also like being a short walk to Millennium Park, the Mag Mile and River North. Emily & Lynn: We moved here about a year and four months ago with the idea that we’d rent here for a while and then move on, but we are so happy here, we’ve decided to stay. We love The Streeter and all of it’s amenities- pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, library, large fitness room. It’s a well run building. They even get food trucks to line up outside about three nights a week and have food vendors in the lobby several nights a week!
This is the first in our new series of blog posts about Chicago neighborhoods where our real estate agents live and work. The thinking is; who knows the ins-and-outs of Chicago neighborhoods better than the local real estate brokers who live and work there every day? Why not share these experiences with people considering a move? So, we’re starting with the West Loop since that’s where the Best Chicago Properties office is located, it just seemed to make sense.
